Testimonials

The people are real, the words are original!

"Just to thank you once again, for the wonderful service and absolutely outstanding product, I Love the sword! Thanks also for dropping the stand in to me today, just another example of your amazing service. I have just visited your cool website tonight, and seen the cool new swords on there, I really like the "Braveness" katana you have featured, it very much reminds me of the "Musashi" style of sword. Could you please extend my thanks and gratitude to the maker of my Dragon sword, and let them know the quality and workmanship is recognised and appreciated. I wish I had the patience to gift wrap it for myself for my birthday on the 6th, now I wont really have any surprises on the day, but I am more than happy anyway. I have shown the sword to a few people, and they were amazed at the beauty and quality of it, I am hoping that they may like one for themselves, so I can foward your details on to them (if that's Ok with you?). I have but one small question regarding the care of the blade...What type of oil do I use, and how often do I need to clean it, and what with? I have heard that "Uchiko" powder is used, but that talcum powder will suffice to remove old oil befere re-oiling the blade. It is fantastic to finally see someone supplying quality hand forged swords at a fantastic price here in NZ, I just Know that soon Geng swords will be a well known and respected sword name with the quality that they produce...right up there with Hanwei, Paul Chen, and Cold Steel."

"I am the proud owner of a reasonable katana collection all are used for cutting practice. my newest ones are the dragon & the wave katana from geng swords. both are beautifully crafted handmade master pieces, well ballanced and fully functional.i was particularly impressed with the dragon katana you will not find an entry level sword at this price anywhere with bo-hi. the closest is the hanwei practical plus at $500 approx and most serious JSA will not recommend the practical plus for tameshigiri also it does not have a bo-hi so the geng swords are also better for iaiato. if you want a good sword for real cutting you dont have to look any further, the wheel and the bamboo katana will probably be the next to go into my collection."

Tim j from Blenheim

The photo of target Tim used. it was 3 inches across very tightly rolled paper. much harder than eqivelant tatame omote.

" I have been looking around for a katana for a while now and did not want an ornament.I'm not an expert on swords but have been collecting knives for a number years. The quaility and presentation of the Dragon sword is very high.Today I took the sword to work with me and showed over half a dozen people and without exception everyone I showed was impressed.A friend of mine has been involved in ninjitsu for a number of years and he says this is the real deal.I thought I was quite familiar with edged weapons having owned over one hundred knives, many big knives such as a "Cold Steel' Trailmaster but this sword is in a different league. This sword scares me.I can't wait to buy another one from you guys!"

"After doing a lot of research on the internet for samurai swords I came across Geng Swords, the site had lots of great information about how the swords were made and after many comparisons of swords on the internet I decided to buy the bamboo cutting katana from Geng.

When the sword arrived I was very very impressed at the quality, craftmanship and presentation.

In my opinion these sowrds represent amazing value for money when you compare the prices of other swords.

Needless to say I will be buying again from Geng not only because of the quality but also the great service."

"I have been looking to buy a katana for a long time. The trouble was - I wanted the real thing! Knowing genuine blades can be really expensive, I did my homework on the internet and from books. I did not want an imititation or an ornament and - of course - I didn't want to be scammed!

The Geng website was user-friendly and photo-rich. I could see evidence of what I was reading in the sword descriptions. I invested in the "Wheel" Katana and when it arrived it was even more impressive and superbly crafted than the photographs had led me to believe. It is beautifully balanced in the hand and is a joy to wield. I was hooked!

Thereafter I invested in the "Bamboo" Katana and the "Wave" Katana. I call it an investment because these swords are beyond the ordinary - they are examples of exceptional hand-craftsmanship by skilled artisans. As technology improves, hand-crafted swords made to such high standards in the traditional way will become rare and greatly prized.

I am delighted with my Geng Katana collection. Their presentation, boxing and packaging is superb. The service from the proprietor was swift and efficient, with excellent communication both before and after purchase. Thank you for your great service.

Geng III Katana
Hello there all at Geng Swords. i would like to personaly thank everyone resposible for the creation of this sword. I was speachless when i opened the postage box. The presentation was supurb. everything done perfectly and with obvious great care and pride.
As this is my first sword, i wasnt sure what to expect. But i have done my homework and this sword is far more beautiful for real rather than in pictures. The blade the tsuba, kashira. everything about it has its own uniqueness.
I am very proud and honoured to own one of your master peices. i can now see how much work has really been put into it. I am truley stuunned and dont no how to thank you anymore!
I have several years of training in aikido, But one day i wish to study the art of Shikendo or Iaido. Until i can find an instructor, the sword will be diplayed for it aesthetic value.

Again thanks eveyone at Geng Swords.
Thankyou Jack
I am looking forward to owning another one of your master peices.

I am writing this testimonial after purchasing 13 different Geng swords. I make no claim to be either an expert in swords or the martial arts. My only interest is collecting quality, handmade samurai swords with live blades. The reasons that I was attracted to Geng swords were because they are located in New Zealand and that many of their swords are made in the traditional way. Even the fittings are quality reproductions of historical originals. The first swords I purchased were the Bamboo Katana and Wakazashi. Although these swords were obviously intended to be used hard for practice did not detract from their simple beauty. They were both beautifully balanced and the fittings were simple but attractive. I later purchased a Geng III wave blade katana, the patterns in this blade being absolutely stunning. It was easy to se a lot of skilled time and effort went into making it. What impresses me most about Geng swords is the constant improvement of the quality (if that is possible) and authenticity of the swords. I recently purchased three of the ¡®traditional forges¡¯ and although I have not seen them yet (I am away on business) the photos left me wanting to see more traditional forges from Geng. Every sword I have from Geng is a work of art and leaves everyone who sees them extremely impressed whether they know about swords or not. I highly recommend purchasing a sword from Geng whether you are a collector, martial artist or just appreciate a quality sword with a live blade. I am definitely excited to see what Geng swords can produce in the future.
